How to Create a Short URL

Short URLs are a simple way to make long links easier to share — whether you're sending them in an email, posting to social media, or printing them on marketing materials. Here's how to create one using ConnectQR.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to the URL Shortener
In the left-hand menu, click URL Shortener then choose Create URL.
  2. Enter the Destination URL
Paste the full link you'd like to shorten into the Destination URL field.
  3. Choose a Title (optional)
If the destination page includes a title (from its HTML), we’ll pre-fill this for you. You can keep it or edit it to something more helpful — especially if you’re managing multiple links.
  4. Add Tags (optional)
Tags help you group and find links later. You can type in a tag or choose from existing ones.
  5. Click Create
Once everything looks good, hit the Create button.

Your short URL is ready!

After clicking Create, you’ll be taken to a confirmation page showing your new shortened link.

  • You can copy the link using the Copy button.
  • The destination URL and title will also be shown for reference.

From here, you can return to your My Shortened URLs page to manage all your links.

Where to find your Short URLs later

Click My Shortened URLs from the sidebar. Here you’ll see:

  • A list of all the short URLs you’ve created
  • The destination URL
  • Click count (how many times it’s been used)
  • Tags and creation date

You can also search by title or tag to quickly find the link you’re looking for.

Tips

  • Need to update the link later? You can edit dynamic short URLs after they’re created.
  • Want to track engagement? All short URLs include click analytics so you can see how your links are performing.
  • Link cleanup: Use titles and tags to keep your list organized, especially if you're managing many links across campaigns.
