When creating a new QR Code in ConnectQR, you’ll be asked to choose between a Static or Dynamic QR code. Both are scannable codes — but they work differently, and each has its own advantages.
What is a Static QR Code?
A Static QR Code has a fixed destination — like a URL — that can’t be changed once the code is created. This destination is hard-coded directly into the QR Code itself.
Key points:
- Uneditable: You cannot update the link or content after the QR code has been generated.
- Non-trackable: Static QR Codes do not support scan analytics or tracking features.
- No expiration: They will continue working as long as the content they link to is available.
- Best for: Permanent or one-off uses — like linking to a PDF or contact card.
What is a Dynamic QR Code?
A Dynamic QR Code uses a short link that redirects to the destination content. This means you can change what the QR code points to even after it’s been printed or shared.
Key benefits:
- Editable: You can change the destination at any time — no need to reprint the QR code.
- Trackable: Dynamic QR Codes include scan analytics so you can see how many people scanned your code, when, where, and what device they used.
- More features: Dynamic codes support additional options like forms, AI-generated visuals, pages, and more.
- Best for: Marketing campaigns, printed materials, events, or anything you might want to update later.
Which one should I choose?
If you're just sharing a link that will never change and don’t need tracking — Static might be fine.
But if you want the ability to update your destination, track scans, or use advanced features, we strongly recommend using a Dynamic QR Code.
